StrayBoots—Not Your Average Mystery Tour

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 by cyberacoustics

I can’t tell you how many times I have traveled to a major US city and end up spending the weekend there in limbo. You wake up on Saturday morning and wonder “What should I do today? What does this city have to offer, besides a Starbucks?” But now there’s a new way to explore cities.

Recently, I discovered These guys have found a way to discover the coolest parts of a city in a fun, interactive way. It’s like the Amazing Race—on your time. No reservations, no set schedule, and no Debbie Downers—just you and your friends going to places only the locals know about.

Local city dwellers agree that is also a great way to discover new things about their own city. Whether you're exploring a neighborhood for the first time or just looking to learn more about one you’re already familiar with, you and your friends will have a blast finding a whole new side of your city. Check out the video to see how it works:

This game is an amazing way to experience any city. It’s way more fun than a walking tour (you’re doing a scavenger hunt, after all!), and you won’t have to crane your neck for two hours just trying to hear a tour guide. You’ll still see the city’s best attractions and coolest sights, but you’ll be the one taking the lead.

Best of all, you have the freedom to stop and enjoy the stuff that interests you the most, without being sped along at someone else’s pace. So if you want to stop for a snack, or want to venture down a street that looks cool, go for it. It’s your game!

Have you tried, or something like it? As always, let me know in the comments.
