Common Questions About USB-A Headsets for Work and Schools
Does this headset have a noise-canceling microphone?
The AC-204USB uses a noise-reducing microphone to help minimize background noise during calls, but it does not use the dual-microphone Environmental Noise Canceling (ENC) technology found in the AC-204ENC models. If active ENC is a priority, consider the AC-204ENC.
Will this headset work with a Mac or Chromebook?
Yes. The AC-204USB is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Chrome OS computers. It connects via USB-A and requires no additional drivers or software to install.
Which softphone and UCaaS platforms work with this headset?
The AC-204USB is compatible with major platforms including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, RingCentral, Genesys CX, NICE, Cisco, Five9, 8x8, AVAYA, Talkdesk, Twilio, and Amazon Connect, among others. Because it connects via standard USB audio, it works with virtually any software that supports a USB headset.
Why can’t I hear myself through the microphone?
The AC-204USB does not play your microphone audio back into the headphones by default. This is called microphone monitoring or sidetone. If you need to hear yourself while speaking, it can typically be enabled through your operating system’s sound settings.
Can I use this headset with PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo consoles?
No. The AC-204USB is designed for use with computers. It is not compatible with gaming consoles. Most consoles do not support the USB audio drivers this headset requires.
What is the TuffCord cable?
The TuffCord is a braided cable designed for durability in high-use environments. It features reinforced stress-relief connections at both ends, where the cable meets the USB plug and where it meets the headset, to reduce wear at the points most prone to fraying. The AC-204USB includes a 6-foot TuffCord cable (4 feet from USB to the in-line controller, 2 feet from the controller to the headset).
