Headphones that Reduce Distraction

Headphones for grades 6-12 need to be durable, easy-to-clean, simple to use, and feature larger earcups with more padding for comfort.  These headsets have the same durability as our other lines but are better fitted for older ages.

Education Headsets FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Cyber Acoustics education headsets for K-12 classrooms and remote learning.

Online Learning and Testing

Cyber Acoustics offers three main series for online learning and testing environments, all built to last beyond a single school year. The AC-4000 series is engineered with TuffCord cables, reinforced plugs, and double-stitched earpads for reliable everyday classroom and remote use. The AC-5000 series adds in-line volume and mute controls for greater student control during virtual lessons, and the AC-6000 series features a flexible boom microphone for improved audio clarity during online instruction and testing sessions. All series are available in USB-C, USB-A, and 3.5mm connections to match your school's devices. For more information, contact sales.
Yes. Cyber Acoustics education headsets are designed to work with the devices schools actually use. USB-C models like the AC-4014 and AC-6014 connect directly to Chromebooks and iPads without adapters or special drivers. USB-A models like the AC-4006 work with Chromebooks and most laptops. No setup required on any device.
Cyber Acoustics designs its headsets for online learning and testing environments to keep students focused and engaged during virtual lessons. The boom microphones on models like the AC-6014 allow students to be heard clearly by teachers, replicating a one-on-one learning experience even at a distance. In-line controls on the AC-5000 series let students quickly adjust volume or mute without disrupting the class. Learn more on the remote learning page.

K-12 Classroom

All Cyber Acoustics education headsets are built for K-12 use, but different series are better suited to different grade levels based on their features and fit.

AC-4000 series (ages 4–12, elementary): Smaller earcups and lighter weight make this the right fit for younger students. Extra-durable construction handles the rougher handling common in elementary classrooms.
AC-5000 series (grades K–12, all ages): Adds an ambidextrous rotating boom microphone and in-line volume and mute controls, giving students more control during virtual lessons. The noise-reducing microphone and braided TuffCord cable make it a versatile choice across grade levels.
AC-6000 series (grades 6–12, middle and high school): Larger, fully adjustable fit designed for older students, with a flexible boom microphone for improved audio clarity during online instruction and testing.

All series share the same core durability features — TuffCord cables, reinforced plugs, and double-stitched earpads — and are classroom-tested against the specific problems teachers report most. See the full lineup on the classroom-tested page.
Yes. The AC-4000 series is purpose-built for students ages 4–12, with smaller headband sizing and lighter weight so younger students can wear them comfortably throughout the school day. The AC-4000 and AC-4014 are two of the most popular choices for elementary classrooms. Adjustable headbands accommodate growth across grade levels.
Yes, shared use is a core part of the design. Several features across the education lineup are built specifically for headsets that rotate between multiple students:

Easy-to-clean leatherette earpads: Found on models like the AC-4014 and AC-6014, these wipe clean quickly and are removable on the AC-6014 for deeper cleaning between uses.
Double-stitched earpads: Reinforced internally so cushions hold up through tugging, pulling, and repeated handling and cleaning cycles.
Reusable storage bag: Included with models like the AC-4014 and AC-6014 to keep individual student headsets organized and protected when not in use.
Hook and loop cable strap: Included across all education models to keep cables tidy in storage, reducing wear between sessions.
Built-in headband cable management: On the AC-4014, keeping the cable routed and reducing stress on connectors during storage and transit.

Durability

Cyber Acoustics surveyed teachers about their top problems with classroom headsets and engineered solutions directly into the hardware. Every part of the headset that typically fails in a school environment — the cable, the plug, the earpads, the headband — has been specifically designed to last beyond a single school year. Details on the full design process are available at cyberacoustics.com/classroom-tested.
Cyber Acoustics education headsets use TuffCord, a proprietary braided cable designed specifically for classroom use. Standard headset cables tangle easily when stored in desks or bins, fray with daily handling, and are vulnerable to chewing, a common source of damage among younger students. TuffCord is tangle-free, ultra-durable, and built to resist all of it. The result is a cable that survives daily use far longer than a standard cord.
The plug is the most common point of failure on a school headset. Cyber Acoustics addresses this differently depending on connection type. 3.5mm plugs are reinforced with an internal steel rod to prevent snapping at the neck. USB plugs are designed with extra solder points and flexible joints so the connection holds up under repeated plugging, unplugging, and the accidental yanks that happen every day in a classroom.
The earpads on Cyber Acoustics education headsets are double-stitched internally, so they hold together through tugging, pulling, and the wear that comes from shared daily use. The leatherette material is also easy to wipe clean between students.
Cyber Acoustics headbands are engineered to withstand thousands of stress cycles — extreme bending, twisting, and the kind of careless handling that happens when students pick up, put down, or play with the headsets. These headbands are made to last longer than a school year.

Connectivity and Compatibility

Cyber Acoustics education headsets are available in three connection types to match whatever devices your school or district uses:

3.5mm:works with most tablets, older Chromebooks, and desktop computers.
USB-A:plug-and-play for most laptops and desktops.
USB-C:for newer Chromebooks and USB-C-only devices.
No. Cyber Acoustics education headsets are plug-and-play with no drivers, no software installation, and no IT configuration required. Students simply plug in and the device is ready to use. This makes deployment easy at scale across a classroom, a lab, or an entire district, and eliminates setup friction for students using headsets for online learning and testing at home.

Purchasing

Our recycling program for wired headsets and headphones helps keep plastics and metals from ending up in landfills. Schools can send wired headphones and headsets from any brand directly to Cyber Acoustics, where we reprocess them responsibly.

“While our headset recycling program is open to everyone, it was specially designed for schools and educational institutions that often have large quantities of unused products and no easy way to recycle them responsibly. We hope to ease some of this burden on schools by offering a no-cost way to dispose of products that are no longer needed.”
